COME on, York’s politicians. Please just get on with getting the community stadium built (The Press, January 30). It is now eight years since this process started.

We managed to get the ecoDepot built in three years, from the time the idea came together to opening the doors to the finished building.

It gave the council its first environmentally sustainable building, and saves the city council (and residents) tens of thousands of pounds a year in energy and water bills.

It doesn’t have to take a decade to build a stadium. Nor does it have to take 30 years to begin creating a landmark sustainable development and 21st century public transport system on York Central that residents of the future will be proud of.

The ecoDepot proves what can be achieved with vision, courage and energy and a determination to get things done. The Press and York’s residents are right to feel frustrated at all this lost time and money.
