FOLLOWING an announcement by the Environment Agency that “your homes are safe” there are reports from Huntington Road of certain expressions indicating strong contempt.

Credibility is everything. Two groups have already decided they don’t have confidence in the claims of EA.

The first is those people who were in the process of buying a house in the flood affected areas. They have run off to higher ground and who can blame them?

The second is the insurance companies who, if they offer any cover at all, will be demanding massive premiums.

There will need to be fundamental changes at the Environment Agency before flood victims accept any assurances over the safety of their homes.
