THE jury has returned and the verdict on the panto in the tent is in.
While the performers and performance were excellent, the setting wasn’t.
Fortunately the heating problems referred to by Charles Hutchinson had been fixed.
Sat in the middle of the front row restricted sightlines to the stage entry/exits, especially during Harry Gration’s usual appearance.
The lights shining directly into your eyes and the excessive use at times of theatrical smoke was unpleasant and could have caused problems for epilepsy and asthma sufferers.
However, the worst thing was the very cramped and uncomfortable seats.
Will I return to the next panto? Yes.
Would I return to see another production in the tent? No, not at any price. Even York’s most popular one.
