FRACKING is a clear and present danger to all those who live in Yorkshire and our city of York.

Fracking will poison the air we breathe and poison the water we drink.

The energy extraction business is about two things: time and money.

It is a 24/7 operation so compressors, lights, flares and so on will be continuous. Heavy vehicles will churn up our roads, to be paid for in public money. My MP, Julian Sturdy, will only listen to his masters in Parliament. This is not a democracy.

People do not want fracking. It is the Tory elite lining their friends pockets.

When the time comes to raise objections I hope every reader of this paper does a little research and writes in.

Chris Clayton, Hempland Drive, York

THIS government will bring a national disaster on us all in the end with this obsession on trying to obtain energy through fracking.

Can they not do it away from cities and towns? What about under the sea? Take it from me, they will trigger an act of nature they will regret in the end. And there will be no turning back, nature in the end will win with a vengeance.

It’s all a nuisance to the community that are calling for a common sense outlook to such mining.

We seem to be so intent on destroying the fabric of our earth.

Look where mine shafts for coal have been left. As the years pass, subsidence under many towns and cities will develop.

Our earth is fragile. We should be looking after it. The government of the day should set an example.
