LEGAL highs may not break any laws, but that doesn't mean they are any safer than the ones that do. Often the chemicals they contain have never been used in drugs for human consumption, which means they haven't been tested. As a result there can never be any certainty over their effects.

Worse still, some drugs marketed as legal highs contain ingredients that are illegal to possess.

That is why we shamed without naming the shop in York selling these wretched things. Last month we were assured the practice would stop but we sent someone under cover the other day and guess what?

Campaigners are calling for action and we say not before time. Do we really need someone to die before something is done about legal highs?
