WE are hoping with the appointment of a new fresh city council that they will all do something about recycling and getting us a large bin each to put all the recycling into, instead of the dangerous and impractical boxes we have now.

During the last bout of high winds and gales, the boxes blew all over into cars and ended up streets away from the houses they belong to, spreading rubbish all over the streets.

How can this help the environment? More people would recycle if we had a large bin with a proper lid to put all our recycling into. Maybe even the students would be able to work out how to recycle if large bins were provided.

Stamford Bridge residents have three bins, one for general waste, one for recycling, and one for garden waste.

This scheme is run by Hull and East Yorkshire council, not a wealthy council by any means, but they manage to get it all under control, so why can’t City of York Council do this?

We all want to help the environment and do our own bit to help, but the boxes need to go and soon. Get them replaced with a recycling bin each and stop wasting money on unwanted piazzas and other unnecessary schemes that the council waste money on.
