THE Lendal Bridge fiasco, coupled with the recent Coppergate incident, both relate to the legality of the wording displayed on the mandatory signs within traffic regulations.
Surely this comedy of errors brings into question the part played by the department of legal affairs within City of York Council for not scrutinising the draft proposals before implementation, which has brought the council into disrepute and costly financial implications both to the public and council coffers alike.
They say ignorance of the law is no excuse.
This applies to every citizen, playing politics aside.
