IN reply to Heather Causnett’s letter re Valentine’s Day. She seems to have misunderstood Ken’s letter.

He was illustrating the ridiculous prices, charged for inferior foreign roses, just because it was Valentine’s Day. I am Ken’s partner and I can assure you that everyday is Valentine’s Day in our home. He never fails to give me little treats to show his love – insane or not!

On Valentine’s Day I received a chocolate rose and it will soon be time for my lovely, lovingly picked bluebells. I am delighted that love reigns in the Causnett household – long may it continue and the pleasure the red roses bring, albeit for a few days.

Incidentally on December 9, 2014 I was given a beautiful bouquet of pink roses by a dear friend. They are still blooming to this day in two vases and giving enormous pleasure unlike those of a friend who was given a bunch of £40 red roses on February 14 only to have the petals fall within a couple of days. I rest my case!
