SINCE 2010, average pay across Yorkshire and the Humber has fallen by £2,380 per year in real terms. The Government says that new jobs are being created, but far too many are poorly paid, with low hours and little security.
The average UK worker has seen the longest pay squeeze since records began in the Victorian era, yet for those at the top, pay keeps on rising.
The upcoming General Election campaigns have to address a higher minimum wage, more employers paying the living wage and crucially; action to stop executive pay soaring by giving workers a voice on pay committees.
