THE revelations concerning gross animal abuse at Bowood – a North Yorkshire slaughterhouse – shame us all (Abattoir workers suspended after being filmed by hidden cameras, February 3). There is an urgent need for CCTV to be installed in all abattoirs to monitor the behaviour of slaughtermen.
Religious exemptions on the use of stunning prior to slaughter also need to end as called for by both the British Veterinary Association and RSPCA.
Yet David Cameron has ruled out these actions as unnecessary.
I urge all concerned readers to contact him to demand these actions and to visit Animal Aid’s website to sign their petition on CCTV.
