LAST year I was contacted by Derek Rayner of Acomb, who was referred to me through a mutual friend, regarding a photograph of the brake shop in York Carriageworks, reproduced in the Yesterday Once Moore feature in The Press of June 16, 2014.
In trying to obtain a print of this photo, I visited the archive section of York Library, but to no avail.
I then visited your office with the same result, but, your helpful receptionist suggested, as a last resort, to try a letter in your correspondence column in the hope of finding the person who submitted the photo.
As a North Eastern Railway enthusiast, I would dearly like to obtain a copy of the photo showing the York Carriageworks brake shop circa 1911, as reproduced in The Press.
If you are the person who owns the picture, would you be prepared to sell a copy print?
If so, please phone me on 01904 769485.
Ian Sadler, Lea Way, Huntington, York.
