WE hope readers have had a wonderful Christmas. Now that thoughts turn to the New Year we wanted to offer advice for the one in 11 people who have asthma.

Our recent New Year Resolution Survey highlighted that 71 per cent of people with asthma think their condition will hold them back from achieving their New Year Resolutions for 2015.

Sadly, someone will be having an asthma attack every 10 seconds over the New Year and almost 200 people will be in such an unstable state they will be admitted to hospital. But with the right medicines and support from a GP or asthma nurse, the vast majority of people with asthma should be able to live their lives ‘symptom free’ and be well enough to take on other resolutions to improve their health.

We want to encourage everyone with asthma to improve their asthma management in 2015 so they have a better chance of reaching their goals for the year, whether that’s getting fit, going on a dream holiday or feeling their best for an important family event.
