I SUSPECT Megi Rychlikova misjudges our medieval forebears (column, December 12).

Having forgotten the art of concrete mixing, I imagine that the architects of our medieval cathedrals were probably thinking “thank goodness we won’t be around when the whole lot falls down”.

On the other hand, perhaps our distant descendants, as they admire our virtual cathedrals on their solar-powered 3D computers, will wonder at our happily funding the reality of such costly structures while our fellow creatures went hungry.
