THE concerns of Naburn residents faced with the prospect of a gypsy and traveller site at Acres Farm, Naburn are perfectly understandable (The Press, October 27).
However, City of York Council could help in allaying those concerns and provide a practical demonstration as to the acceptability of such sites for surrounding residents by approving the application submitted for three gypsy caravan pitches on the West Offices car park.
Strangely, the council continues to refuse to even validate my application, let alone determine it through the planning process.
To councillors and council officers who promote through the Local Plan sites at Naburn, Rufforth and Elvington, the message is simple: do not advocate for others what you are not willing to accommodate yourselves.
Cllr Mark Warters, Independent, Osbaldwick ward, City of York Council.
