OVER the past 30 years, York St John University has spread over a such a great area and taken over a number of redundant buildings to the east of its main buildings on Lord Mayor’s Walk , including the old hospital on Haxby Road and the Grange on Huntington Road.
The only thing missing from the university is a swimming pool. Now if they wanted to build a pool, I suspect the best place would be near the sports fields.
It might sound a bit of a coincidence but the York has a pool near to the sports fields and seems to lack the money, will or commitment to keep the pool going.
Has the council thought of going into shared ownership with St John? Or will we have to wait until the money for the pool dries up?
