WHEN James Alexander, fresh from university, first got involved in what was happening in York and the Tories had control, we exchanged regular emails and agreed on most things.

The one disagreement was proportional representation and probably still is.

Under his leadership, this week I read with pleasure and total agreement about the plans for the York Central development (The Press, October 21).

Well done, James. Looking at your picture you’re not the man you were. Much more streamlined. It’s obviously cost you a pound or two!
