ON THURSDAY Scotland goes to the polls to decide its future, whether to stay as part of the Union or to go it alone.

It would appear that the polls are running neck-and-neck, with little difference in the figures. The politicians and news presenters have sent all of their big artillery up from Westminster this week, so maybe someone is getting the jitters.

If I had a vote I would go for no vote. To vote yes risks Scotland losing too much in its industries, defence and banking. We will just have to see when the result is announced.

Tom Mitchell, Mendip Close, Huntington, York.
