LAST year I was reprimanded after a letter I sent to The Press saying that nuclear fuel was anything but a clean fuel.

So I noted with interest that earlier this year the government had allotted £3.5 billion to help clean up Sellafield. I recently learnt this wasn’t the first billion donated to that cause.

Perhaps Phil Roe would still like to insist that nuclear is a clean fuel, when the government is spending billions to clean up one nuclear site.

It is scandalous that taxpayer’s money is being given just to keep the cost of nuclear fuel down.

Why isn’t BNF footing the bill?

It is also scandalous that taxpayers billions can be given as a blatant subsidy, when a few million couldn’t be given to keep Longbridge car building factory a few years ago. The excuse then was it would be “seen as a subsidy”, and hundreds of people then ended up unemployed.

Perhaps one of our illustrious MPs could explain that one away.
