ONCE again we see the council overlooking transport problems the local plan may cause. Again it is increasing the number of houses to be built at Earswick.

The congestion problems are already there and the proposal will overload the north of York. The ring road, at peak times, is at a standstill on the Haxby side of Clifton Moor.

Bearing in mind that a proposed 1,500 houses are to be built off Usher Lane without any suggestion of improved infrastructure for the traffic increase, where are all the cars going to go?

The Local Plan is being pushed through at the expense of all the residents who live to the north of the city. It seems that the problems of Easrwick are just one part of a far bigger picture when you look at the Haxby area as well, where it is estimated the population will increase by 40 per cent.

This is a far bigger issue than the fines given out over the closure of Lendal Bridge.
