ISRAEL’S announcement yesterday that it had annexed another 1,000 acres of the West Bank to supplement the 125 state sanctioned settlements currently breaching international laws (that can never be enforced against this bastion of brutality) must put an end to the ridiculous notion that a lasting peace has ever been dependent on the actions of Hamas or Fatah.
More than 500,000 heavily armed settlers in the West Bank, 200,000 in East Jerusalem and $300,000,000 of US military aid annually prevent any meaningful debate and encourages those Jewish and Christian Zionists who campaign for the conquest of their God-given ‘Land of David and Solomon’.
Just how are the Palestinians supposed to react peacefully? Give up their land even faster than Israel can grab it? Migrate to the foreign refugee camps that are already home to 5,000,000 exiles? Abandon their Muslim and Christian religions in a hopeless attempt to placate the murderous neighbour that the West has imposed upon them? Peace, as always, is in the hands of the oppressor.
