Risky manoeuvre

CAN I take this opportunity through The Press to thank the kind gentleman in the green Range Rover who stopped in the traffic in Monkgate and motioned to me to cross in front of him and into the flow of traffic “on his near side “.

He did not understand that the bulk of his car had obscured my view of other speeding cars on his inside. I declined his offer and, much to his annoyance, stayed put.

Anyway thanks again to the man in the big car and, by the way, my mother and father were married.

Priceless, love the dry comment at the end, some drivers don't think, they believe they are doing you a favour but it can have the opposite effect as this episode shows.
In my youth as a motorcycle rider I was waved on by a pedestrian on the zebra crossing that used to be at the end of Holgate Road/The Mount junction, as there was traffic coming down The Mount I declined, the taxi driver behind me didn't and knocked me for six as his excuse was he was looking at the pedestrian on the crossing, no serious injuries but a very bent bike!
