WHY does James Alexander always have to have the last word (Letters, August 20) when an opposition councillor says something he doesn’t agree with?

He is sad that he suffers personal attacks, but in his position he is going to get that – the same as other council leaders have in the past.

Yet he never complains when Tracey Simpson-Laing, David Horton, Sonja Crisp or Sandy Fraser (to name but a few) do the self-same thing to opposition councillors.

It proves again that Labour can do what they want and say what they want and nobody else is allowed to comment.

Mel Burley, Albion Avenue, York.

He is a child in a adult body - children have to have the last word as they leave the room and he is no different when cornered!
"why do you always pick on me" springs to mind!

The late Lynn Jeffries left the labour party in York for these very reasons, calling the situation autocratic, I would call it a totalitarian regime.

Quite right Mel. Arrogance can only be tolerated for a specific time; then the voters take action.

In the meantime Coppergate prohibition CCTV is still switched off; the Bridge fiasco continues; road markings are not re-painted; gullies still blocked; and they are still looking to charge for previously free services. etc.

Yet the congestion cross party commission regarding traffic flow is still not in operation.

Leadership for the inexperienced is about being right. Unfortunately for the arrogant it manifests itself in pettiness and childish bickering where the only thing missing is the comment "my dads bigger than yours".

You can give a person the title "Leader", that does not however make them a leader. It is our misfortune that we have someone who has the key to the candy store and will never share but will gladly tell you what you can have on his terms while he takes what he wants when he wants and how he wants.

James Alexander does not understand the concept of leadership and I personally would not put him in charge of the boy scouts, after all the boy scouts should be lead by adults.

Theres paranoid for you, the elves are working constructing their world of make believe where everything thing is rosy and everyone is on their side.

Sort yourselves out you pathetic bunch of dreamers.

-48 in 9 minutes. I'm in hysteric laughing at your desperation, after all you need to know what residents are saying behind your backs, in pubs, clubs even in the supermarket, probably not you couldn't take it, albeit it's the truth.

The unbelievable thing about all of this is that Cllr Alexander actually made a huge thing of listening to residents when he was elected.

In a pompous interview just after his win he said "we will be the residents' voice in the council, not the council's voice among residents."

Hollow words from a hollow person.

Very well said Marvell, you do realise the the labour elves of make believe will be on your comment very soon marking down the score.

They are paranoid with good reason, they have delivered nothing but vanity projects that were un-required and unnecessary. They have run up massive debts and cut services.

Now I'm not sure how they view or measure success but failing to deliver and maintain basic services while spending £millions on vanity projects that will take years to pay for isn't quite how I see success.

Read this, a labour document that is full of clap trap and the murmurings of an out of control mind. Full of promises but lacks clarity and control.
