I AM disgusted and disappointed in the decision by York NHS to abandon the free IVF treatment in York (The Press, August 8).
York is the only city not having this facility. Why? We seem to waste money in A&E on the drunks and the drug-takers(which is their own doing), while the benefits system encourages single mums and those who have never worked to have as many children as they want. So why can we not give childless couples a hand?
My children were lucky not to need help, so this is not a personal plea. I’m just someone who believes that there are couples out there who need IVF and as a right they deserve help from the York NHS.
Ann, York (Full name and address supplied).
