THE local survey from my local MP, Julian Sturdy, asks for my views about everything except the main things that matter to me and my wife, aged nearly 86.

So I crossed everything out and gave the answers that everyone I know cares about. We have both worked a full, enjoyable and hard life for our comfortable retirement and they begrudge us everything we’ve got, treating us as burdens on society.

Too many rich people and businesses avoid paying their fair share of taxes to keep the nation on the right track and put their ill-gotten gains in tax havens abroad, or try to elbow their way into control of the NHS. Thank the Lord for the NHS.

Too many poor families are struggling to survive; too many politicians are busy looking after their own interests; and too many voters fed up with all do not vote.
