BOB REDWOOD’S problem with cyclists passing his house is their ‘general chit chat’ (letters, March 26).

I have read some amazing anti-cycling arguments in your letters pages, and some breathtaking uses of individual instances masquerading as universal truths: but Bob Redwood really takes the biscuit for this one.

It's a simple admission of prejudice.

I think Jim gets the award for biggest free advertiser of his cycling business.
I did not think Bob's comments were anti cyclist all he asked was for a little consideration and pointed out a few facts pertaining mainly to misleading comments made by PP.
If it were a group of hooded youngsters standing outside Jims shop shouting at the top of their voices I bet he would have a different perspective.

You're having a laugh surely??? If not you're as daft and prejudiced as Redwood.

His letters have been as pathetic as I've ever read from the anti cycling brigade, and that is saying something.

The usual retort of the minority questioning someone's intelligence bordering on name calling and making a general put down comment in the hope that it stops comment.

I have to echo "you're having a laugh surely?"

Everyone is free to add their business or political capacity or even *of this parish* as their title. It's the Press who chooses to print it.
If Mr McG was advertising he would be saying things like "Bob Redwood takes the biscuit. By the way do you want to buy a bike?"

Have you ever seen Mr McG's "shop?" It's on a hideous industrial estate. I don't doubt that there's hooded youngsters shouting around there all the time. Not to mention the noise of industry - the car place, the bearings place, the steel place. Always a big heavy truck or lorry down there.

Bob Redwood's two letters complaining about human beings talking to each other because they are on two wheels are as prejudiced as it can get.

Stand in Parliament St and measure the decibel level of collective people's chat and babies crying and street sellers hawking. Check the busker sounds.

Buy a property on a street called "Main Street" like Mr Redwood has and check out the daily sounds of trucks, cars, motorbikes, buses, crying babies etc etc passing through your perceived private street but take the trouble to complain only about cyclists talking to each other.

Dude has shot himself in the foot and sticking up for him is shrapnel in the same.

Wow well if people think Bob's letters are being prejudice there is no wonder the world is falling apart. If you find a good human rights lawyer you may be able to sue him for the deep mental scars he has left behind in his unthinking abusive tirade.

... I think you might have answered your own statement! If you check other comments made by strangebuttrue on other pages of this website you will find that the latter part of yourstatement is correct.

Here's a typical example of a posting by strangebuttrue regarding cyclists:
"CYCLISTS GO THROUGH RED LIGHTS AND ARE A DANGER TO EVERYBODY. WE DO NOT WANT CYCLISTS IN YORK, GET THEM OUT!!!" - and of course it is all capitals, because prejudiced people tend to have a habit of shouting a lot.
