AFTER trying to avoid the news over Christmas, I was greeted on opening The Press on Saturday with the fact that vice-chancellor Brian Cantor is to get a CBE for leading the University of York through a “dynamic period of growth”.
That dynamic period could be adding to the carbon footprint, adding to energy usage and adding to pollution.
How do these people sleep at night; how do they get nominated for destroying the beautiful Yorkshire countryside?
Such a pity he was not more dynamic in encouraging the development on brown-field sites, providing jobs where jobs used to be and all the while saving the environment.
