First bus operator did not provide any service around York during Boxing Day which I think is deplorable on a day which is very busy for the retail trade, the tourist trade, sporting events, the general public wanting to get out and about after Christmas Day and not least, those people who needed to get to work.
Think of the implications for those people without personal transport who had to make a journey for one reason or another.
While transport for York is constantly in the City Council’s view, perhaps now is the time for the City of York Council, the Chamber of Commerce, York Tourist Board, and other interested parties to start calling the shots and make strong representations to First to give the city a bus service worthy of York’s status.
If they cannot do it, there must be a worthy competitor to First somewhere out there.
