LOOKING at the controversy regarding the proposal to cover a larger area of the city with a 20mph speed limit, the fact that there is no way that this law will be enforced must be considered.
During the recent heavy congestion in the centre, there was no visible sign of any uniformed officer to deter the misuse of the present rules or deal with the obstruction caused by inconsiderate parking.
Coppergate is probably the most obvious example of the blatant unwillingness of some motorists to comply with the restrictions.
