Poppy thanks...

First published in Letters by

ON BEHALF of Fulford and District Branch of the Royal British Legion, I should like to thank all those people in and around Fulford that so kindly donated to this years Poppy Appeal.

Under the stewardship of our Poppy appeal organiser Dick Shaw, we raised the magnificent sum of £29,600.

Ian Smith, Stockton Lane, York.

• The Poppy Appeal collection in the Stamford Bridge area is now complete. The volunteer collectors and other supporters have done a fantastic job, as always, and again, people have been wonderfully generous. I would like to acknowledge everyone’s help and generosity.

The total was slightly less than last year’s exceptional figure, but is still a remarkable achievement at £6,881.46.

The Royal British Legion wishes to say a massive thank you again to all the wonderful collectors, the hardworking cash counters and local businesses for their continued support and to everyone who donated so generously.

Gordon Peel, Royal British Legion branch secretary, Stamford Bridge area.
