Poppy appeal thanks

First published in Letters by

I WOULD like to say thank you to Tesco at Clifton Moor for allowing me to collect for the Royal British Legion during the annual Poppy Appeal.

The staff are always very helpful and the guys in the café kindly supplied me with coffee, which was greatly appreciated.

I would also like to thank the kind and generous customers of Tesco who donated a huge amount during the 12 to 13 days.

It is always a pleasure to meet so many different people of all ages who want to support the members of this country’s armed forces and their families and dependents.

Very sadly, and frequently, we hear of deaths and soldiers with serious injuries coming from Afghanistan. The money that is raised goes a very long way to helping these fine people as well as those who were affected by other conflicts too.

Sean Atkinson, York.
