STAFF at St Leonard’s Hospice are already getting their glad rags on to publicise the charity’s I Love The 80s Midnight Walk.

The women-only fundraising event, which forms part of the York hospice’s 30th anniversary celebrations, will see supporters step back in time on Saturday, June 20.

Big hair, leg warmers and clashing colours will be in abundance as hundreds of walkers set out from Joseph Rowntree School, New Earswick, to complete either a five or ten-mile walk.

There will be plenty of 1980s music to get people in the party mood and a large illuminated screen displaying messages of dedication and motivation.

Walkers are being encouraged to dress in 80s gear for the event and the hospice has lots of items for sale such as neon leggings, tutus, fingerless gloves and headbands.

There will be marshals along the routes to ensure everyone’s safety and to spur walkers on their way.

Warm drinks and bacon butties will be waiting when they arrive back at base.
