A YORK city centre shop manager is planning to run two marathons in two weeks in memory of his father-in-law.
Chris Price, who manages WH Smith’s store in Coney Street, is set to to race round the streets of Paris on April 12.
And then just a fortnight later, he will be be making the trip to the capital where he plans to take part in the London Marathon.
Mr Price, 50, from Copmanthorpe, said he would be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support after his wife’s father Ted Ellingsen died of cancer on February 1, aged 80, just a week after his illness was diagnosed.
“Cancer doesn’t care who it affects and whose lives it destroys,” he said.
“And Macmillan do incredible work helping people to deal with life’s hardest moments.”
It certainly won’t be his first experience of long-distance running.
He said he had taken part in the Yorkshire Marathon in York for the past two years, and had also run in the London, Edinburgh and Loch Ness marathons.
He has set himself a target of £2,000 and has raised £938 so far.
