PLACES are available for a free fundraising workshop next month.

Fundraisers and charities can sign up to the Introduction To Online Fundraising event, which usually costs £72, but has been organised for free by Selby Sport Development and online fundraisers Local Giving to allow local community groups to enter for free.

By signing up with Local Giving, all money raised through the site can be used by the local charity, while the organisation will handle the online side of fundraising, supplying electronic links for the charity to use, and ensuring Gift Aid is available.

Nick Dodd from Local Giving said he would help provide social media advice, and look at who to target for fundraising and how.

He said: "Online fundraising is a really effective way of raising money. Whether you need a new clubhouse, kits or sports equipment, money raised through online fundraising can be spent on whatever you want it to be. I hope this event will introduce a lot of sports groups in Selby to Localgiving and ultimately, help them raise a lot of money through it."

The event takes place at Selby Rugby Union Club in Sandhill Lane, on October 15.
