FOUR hundred cyclists pedalled their way through the Wolds from York at the weekend to raise an estimated £80,000 for charity.
The Big Bad Bike Ride was marking its 15th anniversary with a 106 kilometre ride which set off and finished at the New Sports Centre at the University of York.
"It went fantastically well," said York businessman Graham Kennedy, who founded the event after his children were diagnosed with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a neurological disorder that affects balance, coordination, and speech.
"The main thing was everyone set off safely and everyone returned safely. The weather was cloudy but dry, which was ideal."
He hoped the ride would end up having raised its target of £80,000 for Ataxia UK, taking the total raised over the last 15 years past the £900,000 mark.
