ENTRIES are due to open for the 2015 Macmillan charity race in York.

On Sunday, entries will open to become one of the twelve riders in the Macmillan Charity Race on June 13, 2015.

Those to be selected will take part in a nine-furlong race around the Knavesmire.

Each will pledge at least £2,500 to the charity, though this year’s dozen contributed more than £90,000 to a cumulative total that has exceeded £6 million.

Peter Fahey (son of Malton trainer, Richard) has the honour of the highest individual sum raised, with an impressive £13,257 having been donated as a result of his efforts.

Peter was also the youngest participant, aged 19, while Froot Atkins, nearly four decades his senior, at 56, was the senior competitor and posted a very welcome £12,324 to the kitty.

The 2015 contestants are likely to already have riding experience but can also be tutored to reach the required standard.
