A TEAM of firefighters from Humberside Fire and Rescue Service have taken part in a sponsored skydive to raise money for charity.

Nine members of the fire service, including the chief fire officer, completed the jump on Tuesday with the Parachute Regiment Freefall Team - The Red Devils.

A Fire Service spokesman said: “The team were blessed with clear skies at Langar Airfield in Nottinghamshire and enjoyed the thrill of accelerating from zero to 120mph in just 10 seconds.

“The freefall from 13,000 feet lasted around 45 seconds, before the cord was pulled and the nine HFRS staff ‘enjoyed’ their five minute canopy ride back to the landing area.

All funds raised in the skydive will be shared between The Fire Fighters Charity, St Andrews Children’s Hospice in Grimsby, and The Afghan Trust.

Donations are still being accepted at humbersidefire.gov.uk.
