THE metal fabrication team at Portakabin in York have made a donation to the Cancer Care centre at York Hospital, in memory of their colleague Peter Pipe.
Claire Smith, community fundraiser for the York Teaching Hospital Charity, said Mr Pipe worked for Portakabin for 25 years and died from cancer in August last year. Recently a golf day was organised in his memory to raise much needed funds to support the centre.
She said: "As well as the golf day, Portakabin Group ran a safety competition throughout the year. When various departments met their targets, the company paid an award of £20 per employee and now a lot of them have given money to the charity. Because of their generosity, they were able to donate £640 to the Cancer Care Centre."
