MARIE Curie Nurses and fundraisers have thanked people in York city centre for helping raise nearly £5,000 for their Daffodil Appeal so far.

Volunteer collectors have been out across the local area to encourage people to wear a daffodil pin and make a donation to support Marie Curie Nurses.

A spokesperson said: “Organisers would like to thank all those that have volunteered their time to collect and to those who have donated.

“You have helped us to raise just over £4,800 in York city centre so far, which will go towards the work of the local Marie Curie Nurses.

“Special thanks would also like to be given to the Hilton Hotel and to Superdrug on Market Street for all their generosity and support.”

Money raised from the appeal helps Marie Curie Nurses to provide more free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.
