MORE than 100 infant school pupils pulled on their boots and got muddy as part of a sponsored welly walk at Stamford Bridge Primary School.
About 115 youngsters from the school went on a walk around the village, along the river and across the viaduct including a nature trail set up by young conservationists from the village in bloom group.
Acting assistant head Sophie Tams said the school hoped to put the money raised towards being part of a forest schools initiative enabling them to carry out similar projects in the future and make the most of the countryside around them.
Miss Tams said: “The children got really muddy, but they had a really great time on the minibeast trail.
“The forest schools initiative is aimed at trying to get children and adults to go outdoors and make the most of the nature around them.”
