EIGHTEEN cyclists are planning to pedal from Lancaster to York in 24 hours to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Trust.

Organiser Scott Caul, 24, of South Bank, York, said the Way Of The Roses 101-mile ride would start from Lancaster Cathedral in the early hours of Saturday, and finish later that day or early on Sunday at York Minster.

Scott said: “We want to highlight the constant struggle many carers face looking after people with MS, often with little support.

“The ride is certainly a challenge, taking in the Yorkshire Dales and up a number of category climbs.”

He said the riders – Richard Padwell, Ian Williams, Adrian Evans, Gavin Bolger, Karl Barbaro, Stephen Hampson, Jonny Trumble, Nicola Stacey, Jonny Emmott, Joe Palmer, Connor Walter Gibson, Joe Hall, Nicola Robson, Jim Caul, Adam Johnson, Richard Smithells and Mark Allison – included friends and family members and a group of employees from York Hospital.

He said Gavin had recently been diagnosed with MS.

More than £1,000 has already been raised and Scott said he hoped the riders could at least double that.
