FELT artist Vivienne Morpeth has been working with pupils at Copmanthorpe Primary School as their prize for becoming one of the winners of a York Art Gallery competition.
The children produced a box-model representation of the city in the contest, Schools Challenge: An Alternative View of York.
The judges said they were impressed by the scale and ambition of their project and the hard work they had clearly put into researching York’s buildings and rendering them in junk materials.
Their artwork will be included in an exhibition in the Project Gallery at the gallery from Saturday April 29 to Sunday July 30. Headteacher Jenny Rogers said:” I am really proud of the hard work and dedication shown by all of the Year 5 children to achieve this, and a huge thank you to Mrs Nicholson their art teacher for making their vision a reality.”
