PROPOSALS on how the proposed high speed rail line HS2 can benefit areas north of Birmingham will be discussed at an event to be held in York in June.
HS2: Opportunities For The North, will be held at the conference centre at the National Railway Museum as part of Railfest 2012, on June 7, at 6.10pm.
Jeremy Acklam, a railway technology specialist; Jeremy Drew, a transport economist; Jim Steer, director of Greengauge 21, a not-for-profit company that aims to investigate and develop the concepts associated with a UK high speed rail network; Coun James Alexander, leader of City of York Council and Gary Lumby, from the Leeds City Region Local Enterprise Partnership will speak at the event, organised by the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET).
