AN MP has launched a new business enterprise and community hub in York.

The hub, in Burton Stone Lane, has been designed to support local businesses by providing a place where owners of ventures can meet and work together to find ways of encouraging enterprise in the area. York Central MP Hugh Bayley met city councillor Helen Douglas and Roger McGivern, owner of the café where the hub will be based, for its official opening.

A number of events and activities have been suggested for the hub to promote the local area, including having a neighbourhood loyalty card so shoppers can secure discounts when they shop locally. Hub organisers also plan to hold fun events such as pancake races, so people will come along with their families to join in with activities.
