A CAMPAIGN to encourage people to donate unwanted suits to the more needy is in the running for an award.

Restaurant chain The Living Room, which has a branch in York, appointed brand design consultancy Fitzpatrick Design, based at Woodend Creative Workspace, in Scarborough, to create branding for the Suit Amnesty campaign.

The campaign has now been short-listed in the Thames and Chiltern CIPR PRide Awards, which take place in November.

Neil Fitzpatrick, creative director, said the success of Suit Amnesty had won it more work from Living Room owner, The Orchid Group, and from other businesses in the south after the campaign generated interest in the company.

He said they were now looking to expand by taking on another experienced senior designer.

Neil said: “People donated their unwanted suits to The Living Room restaurants – who then made them available to the unemployed, the homeless or even students. So anyone who needed a suit – say for a job interview – but couldn’t afford one could get one from The Living Room.”
