DETAILS of how £67 million in grants was spent on creating new homes in York and North Yorkshire have been revealed.
According to the Local Government North Yorkshire and York Housing Board, £67 million has been spent on creating 1,800 affordable homes, more than 5,000 homes had improvement work and nearly “6,000 families were helped to avoid homelessness”.
The board also said some of the cash helped to build a new safe refuge for women and children escaping domestic abuse, along with 227 new specialist homes with care for the elderly.
