HARKER Construction, which has an office at York Business Park is rebranding as “E-build”.
It reflects the company’s new environmental emphasis, concentrating on buildings with ground heat source pumps, solar panels powering hot water, biomass boilers, green roofing solutions, rainwater storage systems, LED lighting and use of recyclable and sustainable materials.
Managing director Matthew Harker said: “We realise the market place is changing and there is an ever-increasing emphasis on all thing environmentally conscientious. We decided it was time for a change, not only to our image but also to our environmental ethos.”
Like most construction companies, Harker was hit hard by the recession and over the last year has made nine redundancies, whittling its workforce to 16.
But Camilla Willows, the firm’s business development manager, said: “We have created a leaner, more economical workforce ready to take on far more complex contracts.”
E-build is launching its rebranding with an invitation-only evening get-together with customers, sub-contractors and suppliers at the Pitcher & Piano in York on Thursday, April 21.
