YORK and North Yorkshire needs to be "ready for business" as it emerges from the economic downturn, Richard Flanagan, the new president of York and North Yorkshire Chamber, has said.
The partner at property consultancy Lawrence Hannah started his role as president today with a call for businesses to take the lead in growing the economy.
“With the Coalition Government firmly placing the responsibility for economic growth on the private sector, businesses now have the opportunity to take the lead in how we would like to see York and North Yorkshire develop in the long-term. Renewable energy and the science industry present huge opportunities for our region and we need to make sure that we are able to take advantage of developments within these sectors,” he said.
Richard succeeds Shaun Watts as president and embarks on a two-year term.
