AINSTY Farm Shop at Green Hammerton has won the 2010 Countryside Alliance Award for Local Food in the Yorkshire region.
Nominations for the awards were made, by customers of the shop last September, and these impressed the judges enough to put Ainsty into the final three.
Now, following a visit to Ainsty Farm Shop by the judges, comes victory. Ainsty Farm Shop is run by Stuart and Lily Beaton, a husband and wife team, along with a friendly and helpful staff.
The shop has its own butchery, selling traditionally matured meats, an in-house bakery, run by father and daughter team Steve and Katri Alger, a deli, a coffee shop and sells fresh fruit and vegetables sourced as locally as possible.
This is the fourth time the shop has been in the finals for Yorkshire and the third time it has won.
It now goes forward to the national final, with a chance of adding the British title to the regional one, competing against 12 other Local Food Award winners from across England, Wales and Scotland.
