MORE than 2,000 people are expected to converge on Venturefest Yorkshire at York Racecourse tomorrow.

The annual showcase of business talent which brings together entrepreneurs and investors was started by York Professionals seven years ago.

Last year’s Venturefest was responsible for between £21 million and £41 million-worth of new investment in regional businesses and £38.4 million to £64 million investment by businesses.

Independent research suggested it created up to 445 jobs and safeguarded up to 277 jobs.

As in past years, tomorrow’s Venturefest delivers a programme of support for entrepreneurs young and old – from the Enterprise Inspirations area, which showcases the entrepreneurial efforts of the region’s under-15s, to the investment competition, in which nine young companies battle it out to win a support package worth £30,000.

A comprehensive seminar programme and exhibition area of 40 established businesses gives entrepreneurs access to advice and support from experts from across the region.

Among the many events is The Big Debate in the racecourse’s Voltigeur Suite, from 2pm.

Chaired by Steve Hughes, managing editor of The Press, experts will outline what the endorsement of a new North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership will mean.

Doors will open at 8am and the event culminates in a gala dinner and awards ceremony.
