Discerning Images, the photographic studio based in Green Lane Trading Estate, Clifton Moor, is expanding into two new studios.

Rob Scott, who set up the business with his Nottingham-based business partner, Jeff Ditchburn, in 2005, is replacing his large studio at Clifton Moor with two studios.

One is at Images House, in York city centre, and he is looking at a further site in Market Weighton to respond to demand for the company in Pocklington, Hull and Market Weighton.

The business doubled its turnover last year, and Mr Scott said business had boomed since he partnered with make-up artist Nicole Prance.

This has widened the business’s services to offer makeovers for photo-shoots. The business was also named Brides Magazine’ Recommended Photographer for North Yorkshire.

Mr Scott said he expected this recommendation to increase business even further next year. Brides is part of the same publishing group as Vogue, Vanity Fair and Tatler, and has a distribution of more than 80,000.

Mr Scott said: “We will feel the benefit of that next year because people book well in advance for wedding photographers.”

He said he was currently measuring up and talking to the landlord of the Market Weighton studio, which has a number of rooms with the potential to be converted into gallery space alongside the studio.
